Junction Avenue - A Black Business Pop Up
I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff will be tabling
at a Black owned business pop-up event for local Black
vendors, entrepreneurs and businesses at Self Enhancement,
Inc. (The Center) 3920 N Kerby Ave. This family-friendly
event will feature music, food, services, products, shows

the project, related job opportunities and restorative
justice efforts being made for the historic Albina
neighborhood.

Virtual Public Hearing for the Supplemental Environmental
Assessment
December 14, 2022
Details: The virtual public hearing was an opportunity for
the community to provide spoken public comments for public
record on the project's Supplemental Environmental
Assessment as part of the environmental review process. A
full transcript of the hearing will be added to the project
library in early 2023.
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project Team was
present at the King Farmers Market at NE 7 th & Wygant in Portland from 10:00AM - 2:00PM to have
conversations with market-goers about the project, share
opportunities to get involved and provide information.

Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project Team had
an informational table at the Kenton Farmers Market at 8303
N Denver Avenue in Portland from 3:00 - 7:00PM to engage
with community members about the project, answer questions
and share ways to get involved.
MLK Dream Run
September 17, 2022
Details: The MLK Dream Run brought together runners and
spectators over two days to celebrate the North/Northeast
Portland community and empower the next generation of
entrepreneurs. I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff
were present to hand out information, talk about the project
and answer community questions.
Peace and Unity Fest
September 10, 2022
Details: The Peace and Unity Fest is a back-to-school event
hosted by YOUTH (Youth, Organized, & United to Help) to
provide free backpacks filled with school supplies and books
for Portland children. I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project
staff attended this event to bring more awareness to the
community about the project, answer questions and meet new
community members.
In My Shoes Community 5K Walk
September 3, 2022
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a
presence at the Word is Bond 5K community walk through the
historic Albina community. During the walk, attendees
learned about Portland history and heard from various guest
speakers. Project staff were available throughout the walk
to share information about the project, respond to questions
and offer the opportunity to take the Summer Design Survey
seeking feedback on design elements for walls and bridges in
the project area.
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a
presence at the 5th Annual Vanport Jazz Festival celebrated
at the Colwood Golf Course. Attendees had the opportunity to
learn about the project and participate in the Summer Design

Good in the Hood
June 25 & 26, 2022
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a
project information table at King Park School Park as part
of the annual Good in the Hood community festival. Staff
were on hand to chat with attendees, share project
information and answer questions
Juneteenth Oregon 50th Anniversary
June 18 & 19, 2022
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a
presence at Portland's 50th Juneteenth celebration at
Lillis-Albina Park. Staff were able to hand out project
information and speak with festival attendees about how we
plan to improve travel and reconnect neighborhood streets.

Details: ODOT, in partnership with Word is Bond PDX and Camp
ELSO, engaged 50 Black and Brown youth in hands-on workshops
to support the decision-making process of this important
Urban Design and infrastructure project.
