If you wish to attend a virtual meeting but cannot attend by phone or computer, or you require language accommodations, please contact the project team by emailing us at i5RoseQuarter@odot.oregon.gov or calling us at 503-470-3127 at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.

MLK Dream Run

September 16-17, 2023

Details: The MLK Dream Run brings together runners and spectators over two days to celebrate the North/Northeast Portland community and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. The event benefits the Soul Business District Association youth entrepreneur career leadership program. This year's theme is "Eyes on the Prize - Mission Achievable," which represents a time of action, rebirth and realizing plans. I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff will be there to hand out information, talk about the project and answer community questions.

The Homecoming

August 12, 2023

Details: I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff shared the latest project information at Self Enhancement, Inc.'s community music festival called, 'The Homecoming'. The event featured assorted vendors, live music, a kid zone and food trucks. Musical performers included a combination of youth and adult artists with general ties to North and Northeast Portland.

Junction Ave. - A Black Business Pop Up

February 4 & 5, 2023

Details: I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff participated in Self Enhancement Inc.'s Junction Avenue business pop-up event for local Black vendors, entrepreneurs and businesses. This family-friendly event hosted a DJ, an arts and crafts corner for kids and many unique and fun booths. Attendees shopped some of Portland's favorite Black-owned businesses and stopped by our table to learn about what's ahead for the project in 2023, related job opportunities and restorative justice efforts being made for the historic Albina neighborhood.

Virtual Public Hearing for the Supplemental Environmental Assessment

Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project Team had an informational table at the Kenton Farmers Market at 8303 N Denver Avenue in Portland from 3:00 - 7:00PM to engage with community members about the project, answer questions and share ways to get involved.

Peace and Unity Fest

September 10, 2022

Details: The Peace and Unity Fest is a back-to-school event hosted by YOUTH (Youth, Organized, & United to Help) to provide free backpacks filled with school supplies and books for Portland children. I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project staff attended this event to bring more awareness to the community about the project, answer questions and meet new community members.

In My Shoes Community 5K Walk

September 3, 2022

Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team had a presence at the Word is Bond 5K community walk through the historic Albina community. During the walk, attendees learned about Portland history and heard from various guest speakers. Project staff were available throughout the walk to share information about the project, respond to questions and offer the opportunity to take the Summer Design Survey seeking feedback on design elements for walls and bridges in the project area.

Vanport Jazz Festival

August 5 & 6, 2022

Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team was present at the 5th Annual Vanport Jazz Festival celebrated at the Colwood Golf Course. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the project and participate in the Summer Design Survey looking for feedback on design elements for walls and bridges in the project area.

Juneteenth Oregon 50th Anniversary

June 18 & 19, 2022
Details: The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project team was present at Portland's 50th Juneteenth celebration at Lillis-Albina Park. Staff was able to hand out project information and speak with festival attendees about how we plan to improve travel and reconnect neighborhood streets.
