Local Street Closure: NE Lloyd Boulevard

Purpose: Both directions of NE Lloyd Boulevard will be closed to vehicles for I-5 repair work, earthquake readiness upgrades, and foundation work. 

Where: NE Lloyd Boulevard between NE 1st Street and NE Oregon Street.  

Closure Details:

  • The closure will begin on Sunday, March 22 at 10:00 P.M. and continue for approximately 90 days.

Detours Required: 

  • Vehicles will be required to detour. Detour routes will be clearly signed.  
  • Access to the Oregon Convention Center along Lloyd Boulevard from the east and along NE 1st Avenue will be maintained.
  • Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to pass through using the wide sidewalk along the southbound lane.  

Intermittent Overnight Closures: I-5 Southbound Left Lane

Purpose: Intermittent overnight lane closures as crews perform needed repairs in the highway median.

Where: I-5 southbound left lane between the Oregon Convention Center and Burnside Bridge

Closure Details:

  • The work will require intermittent closures overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • No detours required. Travelers will be able to use the open lane. 

Travelers can expect:

  • Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on local streets near the Oregon Convention Center, including NE Oregon Street and N Interstate Ave, for seismic upgrades and sign structure work.
  • Occasional closures of the I-84 westbound off-ramp to Moda Center and the Oregon Convention Center for sign structure work.
  • Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on NE Lloyd Blvd for seismic upgrades.
  • Occasional nighttime lane closures and possible shoulder closures on I-5 to construct stormwater facilities. 
  • More traffic impacts are expected in 2026 when bridge preservation, merge lane extension, and sign structure installation work begins.
