Construction Travel Impacts
Active Local Street Closure: NE Lloyd Blvd
Purpose: I-5 Rose Quarter seismic retrofitting work. Crews will be measuring existing supporting beams underneath I-5 bridge structures to confirm specifications for the fabrication of replacement beams, removing lead paint, and placing anchor bolts in concrete.
Where: I-5 Bridge Structures over NE Lloyd Blvd near Oregon Convention Center
Planned closure schedule:
- 10/27-11/7: Northbound sidewalk and lane on NE Lloyd Blvd between NE 1st Ave and NE Oregon St.
Note: Schedule is subject to change. Stay tuned on the project website for the latest information.
Detours required: Northbound vehicles will be required to detour. Detour routes include NE Grand Ave and NE 1st Ave. Southbound vehicles will not need to detour. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained on the multi-use path along the southbound lane.
Travelers can expect:
- Phase 1A Local Road & Ramp Closures
- I-5 Stormwater Single Lane Closures
- I-5 Merge Lane and Bridge Work
- Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on local streets near the Oregon Convention Center, including NE Oregon Street and N Interstate Ave, for seismic upgrades and sign structure work.
- Occasional closures of the I-84 westbound off-ramp to Moda Center and the Oregon Convention Center for sign structure work.
- Temporary sidewalk and lane closures on NE Lloyd Blvd for seismic upgrades.
- Occasional nighttime lane closures and possible shoulder closures on I-5 to construct stormwater facilities.
- More traffic impacts are expected in 2026 when bridge preservation, merge lane extension, and sign structure installation work begins.
